MEDIAM Dermatology Conference partnership with UNHCR

As part of its social responsibility and continuous support to humanitarian initiatives, MEDIAM is pleased to partner with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) on adopting a COVID-19 healthcare project. Through this project, MEDIAM and UNHCR will provide support to vulnerable refugees and internally displaced persons (IDP’s) struggling from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pandemic has caused devastating social and economic disruptions around the world, claiming sadly the lives of people we know, loved ones and family members.  While the situation is stabilizing in some countries, in others, the rising number of confirmed cases and deaths remain distressing.

In Lebanon, the pandemic has added additional heavy challenges for vulnerable local and refugee communities, threatening their lives and livelihoods. With the surge in the number of COVID-19 patients requiring urgent hospital care in the past weeks, UNHCR teams are rushing to provide additional lifesaving equipment to overwhelmed hospitals across the country. As of August 2021, 47 countries reported that over 62,000 refugees received a vaccine. In 107 out of 123 countries persons of concern are already receiving vaccinations. So far, we have been able to provide additional Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds (including beds, ventilators, monitors, central stations) and hospital beds to hospitals across Lebanon.

No-one is Safe until everyone is Safe

COVID- 19 does not discriminate and can affect anyone, hence international solidarity and cooperation are key in times of crisis. As the crisis progressed, and the scale of additional needs became clearer and were articulated in the Global Humanitarian Response Plan, UNHCR mobilized resources from around the world to address the pandemic, raising millions of dollars. Today, MEDIAM urges you to respond to UNHCR’s COVID-19 appeal by donating to urgent needed aid and healthcare to refugees and IDP’s after the virus has pushed some of the most advanced healthcare systems to the brink.

Thus, we would like to set-up a meeting with your esteemed company’s management and CSR department to introduce you to UNHCR’s work in the region and encourage you to join our partnership with UNHCR.

In times like this every donation counts.
